WORKSHOPS WITH THE RESIDENTS

Share your skills, special interests, and talents with the ladies or the children. Teach crocheting, knitting, dance, karate, art, music, gardening, poetry, yoga, etc. What is your specialty?

If you think you might be interested in helping St. John’s Shelter Program serve the homeless women and children of Sacramento in this way -- or if you have another idea about where you might be helpful -- please call the Shelter at (916) 453-1482 for more information.

I read this book three years ago...it is solid in terms of data. I read it because I feel like, even though it isn’t a Christ centered perspective, we absolutely have to collaborate and interface with the current work that is powerfully moving forward on poverty.
In our experience, in Portland, it is through this respectful engagement that then allows our relational approach to come to the forefront and the secular world begins to see that it is extremely significant to addressing poverty
